CARAVAN, A Musical Journey in Africa

Caravan routes through the Sahara provide exchange of goods as well as vibrant cultures. "Caravan" follows these routes from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, through Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Niger, and Morocco, with musicians joining composer/producer Tunde Jegede to perform in their home neighborhoods. Some of the musicians, such as Toumani Diabate, Oumou Sangare, and Kasse Mady, are world renowned while others are relatively unknown, yet all share a deep connection to and love of their cultures.
"Caravan" concludes in Morocco where the musicians gather for a concert that will include traditional and contemporary orchestration. Through extraordinary cinematography, this intimate portrait of people and their culture captures their spectacular landscape and culture.
